Sports Photo Hawaii and Keolanui Photos                                                                                                                                                    Is a family owned and operated local business located on the Big Island of Hawaii and has been established for over 24 years.

Keolanui Photos was founded in 1980 by Norbert K. Keolanui Jr.  The Company was expanded to include Sports Photo Hawaii several years later, and has remained the success it became upon its establishment, throughout the years.

It all began when Norbert resigned from his highly successful 20 year career as an Insurance Agent and decided to become a full time photographer.

He began his career as a photographer shooting school packages in California and despite limited training, he proved to be gifted and his work sold.  Within a year, and a move back to Hawaii, his school photos were remembered and he was sought as a wedding photographer.  He then officially became a part-time wedding photographer and an avid student of photographic techniques.

He received most of his formal training from noted Canadian Photographers Al Gilbert and his son Michael Gilbert.  His artistic talent and "secrets" were further developed from study with the Gilberts.

He then went on to become a highly successful full-time wedding photographer, and also shot legal, scenic and a large amount of school portraiture, expanding into team and group photos for a wide variety of sports and functions.

Successful, yet self-effacing and humble, Norbert took the art of photography to a new level.  With a technically and artistically sound confidence and a sound philosophical approach and attitude, he loved his work, and made Keolanui Photos and Sports Photo Hawaii highly successful along with the assistance of his wife Anne Keolanui.

Upon his passing in October of 1995, the Company continued operations under the ownership of Anne Keolanui and the successful tradition of Keolanui Photos and Sports Photo Hawaii was carried on, as Norbert would have wished.

Today, Anne is the Owner, Operator and Primary Photographer of the Company.  She has 20 years photographic experience.  Her daughters Melanie and Kimberly assist in various aspects of Company Operations.
